MySQL fails to start, FreeBSD 6.0 release

Fresh installation of 6.0.

I've tried both mysql3 and mysql41 in the current
ports tree. The mysqld daemon starts then aborts. The
error log shows that "./mysql/host.frm" can't be
found.

I've looked at both safe_mysqld and mysqld_safe. They
seem to expect
the wrong directory structure for FreeBSD. I have the
host.frm file, but in /var/db/mysql/mysql/.

mysqld is in /usr/local/libexec/ and there is no
./mysql/host.frm there.

Is anyone using 6.0 with a recent build of MySQL 3x or
41 from ports? If so, how are you starting the daemon?
Anyone else have this problem?
