Install Problems

We can finally get X-windows to come up but the mouse will still
not work.I went in and changed the /dev/mouse to /dev/ttyd0 & ttyd1 and
still doesn't work. Do U have any hints?
I even tried sio0 which is I believe my Com1..but no help
